Meet Lane Herdon
Account Executive
You only need to spend a few minutes with Lane Herndon to see that he cares deeply about his role — and his clients — here at Patient Guide Solutions.
Lane joined the PGS team in August 2021, right after he graduated from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas where he earned a Business Administration degree with an emphasis in marketing. While the sales position at Patient Guide Solutions was a natural fit for his degree, Lane's grandfather also influenced Lane's decision to take the job.
"My grandfather was in sales for a long time for a few different companies in Atlanta. He even taught sales, so I talked to him about the job," Lane said. "They still live in Atlanta, but he's retired now. We still talk; it seems like he always wants to talk about work when he comes to town."
Lane is very softspoken, but his genuine affection for his clients comes through loud and clear when he speaks.
"I like sales. I like helping people, and helping the hospital clients," Lane explained. "It's always neat seeing everyone's perspective on things. Everyone's got their own problems they are trying to solve, and I get to help them figure out if what we do aligns with what they need.”
"There is no point trying to talk someone into doing something. It's got to be because it helps them," Lane continued. "A lot of what I do is figuring out if our story fits in their story."
Like most of his PGS coworkers, Lane draws on personal experience when talking to his hospital clients about how Patient Guides can help both patients and staff. He remembers his grandmother's hospitalization a few years ago that made him notice how hard the staff worked to answer his family's questions and stay on top of his grandmother's needs.
"The hospital staff were there trying to figure everything out. They were overwhelmed, and it was hard to answer certain questions," Lane recalled.
In addition to his personal experience, Lane recently married into the medical field, which gives him even more insight into helping patients thrive.
"My beautiful wife, Ericka, and I got married in April. She's a nurse and in a couple of months she will graduate from nurse practitioner school," Lane said. "It's always neat to hear her talk about things going on at the hospital and the ways she helps her patients. How crazy her days are — it makes me think about work a lot. Then I talk to potential advertisers who are going through the same things. What the families are going through. It's an everyday conversation in every hospital room."
His recent nuptials did more than give him new insight into the life of hospital staff. He's also learning about...pets.
"I have a dog and a cat. The cat is Ericka’s, but I adopted her," Lane laughed. "What's funny about Tobi is, when Ericka picked the cat up, they couldn't tell if it was a boy or a girl. Ericka named her Toby, but now she's Tobi with an I.
"We also have a Boxer, Bo," Lane continued. "I adopted Bo, too. He's got a personality. Thinks he's a lap dog, and he's terrified of the cat."
When he's not at work, Lane is outdoors enjoying everything Arkansas, known as "The Natural State," has to offer. He enjoys fishing and hunting, specifically duck, turkey, and deer hunting.
"I love spending time with my wife and my family. Riding around in my boat. Going to the lake."
